STEPPING UP THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION
The State Commission for Prevention of Corruption congratulated the four civil servants (Biljana Karakashova Shulev, Branko Smiljevski, Sanja Kostadinovski and Milka Muratovska), who after a tough competition have been selected for sponsored studies in the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) in Austria. This is an opportunity for the selected candidates to earn internationally recognised Master of Art degree on Anti-Corruption.
This extraordinary opportunity is possible through the EU funded project “EU Support for Rule of Law”. Ms Mojca Kuzmicki, Team Leader of the project who joined the Commissioners in congratulating the students, emphasized that one of components in the project is dedicated to improving the prevention and fight against corruption by supporting the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption in various segments of their mandate. She explained that in total the project will sponsor 12 students employed in selected institutions throughout five years.
The unique master programme offers a rigorous, diverse, and innovative anti-corruption curriculum. It reflects the different academic disciplines necessary for providing comprehensive insight into anti-corruption and compliance systems, while offering the practical know–how and expertise The goal is that through networking and team-building activities the graduates will join the broad alumni network of anti-corruption professionals.
It is particularly gratifying that the four students represent a wide spectrum of professions and institutions, all vital for the prevention and repression of corruption, representing employees from the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption, State Audit Office, Financial Police and Ombudsman. Since the students are obliged to remain employed in the public sector of North Macedonia working on topics related to anti-corruption for 4 years after receiving the MA, we believe that they will provide a serious contribution to the fight against corruption in the country.
The State Commission for Prevention of Corruption wishes the selected students success in their studies and looks forward to following and supporting their successes.
